With regard to the handling of its customers’ important personal information, the Eighteenth Bank, Ltd. (the "Bank") has laid down the personal information protection policy set out below with regard to the observance of laws and regulations relating to the protection of personal information, and to the proper handling of that information.
1. Handling of personal information
To enable it to assure secure business transactions with customers and to provide them with better products and services, the Bank gathers information relating to its customers that is necessary to achieve that. The types of information collected from customers include their names, addresses, dates of birth, gender, telephone numbers and occupations. In addition, necessary personal information is obtained from customers in relation to various products and services provided by the Bank.
2. Purpose of use of personal information
(1) The personal information received from customers is used for the business activities and purposes of use* set out separately. The Bank does not use customers’ personal information that is surplus to what is necessary to achieve those purposes.
(2) Whenever the Bank obtains personal information, it promptly announces publicly the purpose of its use, except in cases in which the purpose of use has been announced in advance. In cases in which personal information is obtained in written form (including information recorded by electronic or electromagnetic means, etc.) directly from a customer, for example upon the conclusion of an agreement with a customer, the purpose of the use of that information is stated. In addition, in business involving the extension of credit, the approval of the customer is obtained.
3. The provision of personal information
(1) The Bank will not provide customer information to third parties except in the cases set out below.

When express consent to do so is received from the persons concerned. |

When the Bank is required to do so by laws or regulations. |
| (iii) |
When it is necessary to protect people from death or injury or to protect property, but it is difficult to obtain a customer’s approval. |
| (iv) |
When it is particular essential for public health or for the healthy upbringing of children, but it is difficult to obtain a customer’s approval. |
| (v) |
When it is necessary to cooperate with a government or similar institution in the conduct of activities prescribed by law, but obtaining a customer’s approval risks impeding the conduct of those activities. |
(2) In the event that the handling of personal information is entrusted wholly or partially to other entities within the limits necessary to accomplish the purposes of the use of personal information, those other entities will also implement necessary and appropriate measures with regard to customers’ personal information.
(3) The cases in which the Bank may use personal information concerning customers jointly with other specified parties are as follows.

4. Secure management of personal information
The Bank will always take appropriate measures to ensure that customers’ personal information is accurate and up-to-date. In addition, to ensure the secure management of customer-related information, including the prevention of the leakage, loss or destruction of, or damage to, customers’ important personal information, the Bank devises and implements all necessary and appropriate measures, including the formulation of basic policy and handling rules for secure information management, and systems for the implementation of measures for secure information management.
5. Requests for the disclosure, amendment, etc., of personal information
(1) If customers request notification of the purpose of use of information concerning them that is held by the Bank, or the disclosure of such information to them, then, after verifying the identities of the persons concerned, the Bank will notify them of said purpose of use or disclose said information, provided there is no particular reason for not doing so.
In the event that the Bank does not comply by notifying customers of the purpose of use of information or by disclosing it to them, the Bank will explain to those customers the reasons therefor.
If customers request the amendment, supplementation or deletion of the content of personal information concerning them, the Bank will carry out any necessary investigation promptly and amend, supplement, or make deletions to the information so as to ensure its accuracy.
Forms for making requests for the notification of the purpose of use or the disclosure of personal information, and for amendments, etc., to information are made available at the Bank's head office and all branches. Accordingly, customers are requested to bring them, together with documents verifying their identity, to the Bank's head office or any branch, or to send them by mail to the customer service unit shown in 6. below. Please note that a preset fee is payable for information disclosure.
(2) If customers do not desire to receive proposals by direct mail or by telephone concerning financial products and services made through the use of their personal information, the Bank will cease using the information for that purpose, in which case customers are requested to notify their nearest branch or the customer service unit below to that effect.

7. Maintenance and improvement of the protection of personal information
The Bank will handle personal information entrusted to it by its customers in accordance with the items set out above, and will endeavor constantly to improve the manner in which it conducts the protection and handling of personal information.
* Purposes of use of customers' personal information
Business activities
- Deposit taking, transfer and remittance, money changing, lending and foreign exchange business and all business activities ancillary thereto.
- The sale of public bonds, investment trusts and insurance, securities brokerage, trust, and corporate bond business, and any other business that banks may engage in by law and all business activities ancillary thereto.
- All other business activities that a bank may engage in and all business activities ancillary thereto (including all business activities for which approval may be granted in the future).
Purposes of use
Personal information will be used for the purposes set out below in relation to the financial products and services of the Bank and its affiliated and partner companies. In the event that the purposes of use of specific personal information are restricted by laws or regulations, that information will not used for any purposes other than the aforesaid purposes of use.
- To receive and deal with applications for financial products and services, e.g. the opening of accounts for financial products
- To confirm the identities of individuals pursuant to the Customer Identification Law, and confirm matters such as their eligibility to use financial products and services
- To administer due dates for deposit and loan transactions, etc., and conduct the administration of transactions on an ongoing basis
- To take decisions on applications for loans and their ongoing use, etc.
- To make judgments as to appropriateness with regard to the provision of products and services, including judgments as to suitability
- With regard to the extension of credit, to provide information to third parties within the limits necessary for the appropriate conduct of that business, e.g. the provision of personal information to consumer credit bureaus to which the Bank is affiliated
- In cases when the Bank is asked to handle personal information processing (in part or in total) on an outsourcing basis by another business, to ensure such processing is conducted appropriately
- To exercise rights and perform obligations under agreements with customers, laws, etc.
- To conduct research and development for financial products and services by such means as the conduct of market research, data analyses and questionnaire surveys
- To make proposals with regard to financial products and services by such means as direct mail
- To make proposals with regard to the products and services of partner companies, etc.
- To cancel transactions and manage the situation after such cancellations are made
- To ensure the appropriate and smooth execution of transactions with customers in all other respects
Note: In specifying the purposes of use of personal information, the following limitations on the purposes of use pursuant to laws and regulations are imposed.

In accordance with the Enforcement Regulation for the Banking Law, information provided by consumer credit bureaus concerning the capacity to repay borrowings of persons seeking loans is not to be used or provided to a third party for any purpose other than that of investigating the repayment capacity of the persons seeking loans. |
